Reminder: Mission Creek + New Bohemia This Weekend!!
Just a reminder: this weekend is the weekend of music you don’t want to miss. Mission Creek is pleased to be curating stages for Cedar Rapids’ New Bohemia Festival, which goes down all weekend between Friday and Sunday. We understand that it’s a little confusing, so here’s what you need to know to maximize your dollar’s worth.
Friday night you need not even leave Iowa City to get down - everything you could ask for goes down right here in town at the Industry, located at 211 Iowa Ave (formerly the Q Bar). The Industry features two stages - one upstairs and one downstairs - and hence we’re maxing the place out with shows going on both down and up. Los Angeles purveyors of polished noise HEALTH headline the event, marking their first foray into the fine state of Iowa. Their performances are becoming something of legend, so you don’t want to miss this. They’ll be supported by a bevy of locals and favorites - Baby Teeth make their triumphant return to our city, while the Poison Control Center come back to us following a successful summer tour with Apples in Stereo.

Saturday you have venture slightly out of your comfort zone, but we promise it will be beyond worth it. Head up to Third Base Sports Park (Google map) in Cedar Rapids and you’ll be rewarded with roughly 9 hours of music starting at noon. You won’t want to miss this outdoor event featuring Murder By Death and William Elliot Whitmore sharing the same stage. All told there are 9 acts performing. What’s the best part? That ticket price you paid for Friday night gets you in on Saturday. So if you haven’t yet, buy your ticket today (you can score one easily at Record Collector on Linn St.) and you get two days of music for 12 dollars. Say what? That’s a deal you can’t beat, for real.
