Preview: Caethua at The Glory Hole

After what feels like an eternity, The Glory Hole will be full of music again.  (Whoa, that sounds really dirty…it’s not, don’t worry.)  With the help of Night-People, The Glory Hole has themselves a bit of a noise/avant-folk showcase going on.  Headlining tonight is Caethua a/k/a Clare Adrienne Cameron Hubbard.  Clare is making the sojourn from Washington to Maine to make a new home out East.  On the way she’s doing some shows, y’know, gas money.  But it just so happens that her solo cassette on Iowa City’s Night-People label is ready, so we get a release party tonight.

Clare has concocted a cassette full of lilting, challenging folk-tinged tunes.  Not only is she an accomplished guitarist, she’s gifted with a haunting set of pipes and some skills on the saxophone as well.  This is how you’re going to get over a grueling election season.  This is the kind of earthy, soulful stuff that restores your faith in humanity.

A trio of local openers is slated.  Taterbug will be as wild and crazy as usuall, Olivia Rose Muzzy will provide a nice compliment to the headliner with her bass work and Star City is having his first show, so he might be the only one who actually knows what he has in store (if anyone does).

Where: The Glory Hole (805 E. Washington)
When: Tonight (11/4), 9:30 pm
