Preview: Yellow Swans w. Raccoo-oo-oon + Lwa

Yellow SwansThis Monday (October 29th), the Picador presents a trio of excellent bands in the “noise” and “experimental” genres of music. Those are difficult terms — I mean, if you’re in a “rock” band, it can really sound like a million different things so what the hell does “noise” or “experimental” really mean? Nonetheless, here are some guarantees: the performance will be loud and you will be physically and emotionally moved. The last time the Yellow Swans came through town they detonated an atomic soundscape on the Picador’s dance floor, creating layers of post-war static and rhythmic heart-attacks via a table full of electronic equipment. It was both confrontational and inviting. Their music effectively sets its controls for the heart of your soul causing internal synapses to re-connect afters years of non-use from listening to so much indie-pop. In short, this show will wake you up from the deep hipster sleep that binds you. Raccoo-oo-oon and Lwa open. Doors at 9PM — The Picador at 330 E. Washington Street in Iowa City.
