Preview: The Western Front w. Counterpunch and We the Living
Monday night… aw snap: the toughest night to rally (ed note: that’s no way to start off this post, man!) OK, let me try again: Get yrself down to the Picador to check out the Western Front this Monday at 9PM. Why? This local indie rock ensemble ’s sound pulls from inspirations such as the National, the quieter side of the Hold Steady, and there’s even a touch of Death Cab for Cutie buried in there. In other words, expect lots of chiming, interlocking guitars, passionate builds and releases, and best of all: some interesting and well-considered lyrics that ponder Iowa City’s cultural and physical geography.
