It’s kind of a slow start to the week here at the Freak, with us all coming off our tryptophan hangovers, but for those looking to indulge in a quintessential Iowa City tradition this week, we recommend hitting up the Mill on Wednesday for the Burlington Street Bluegrass Band, a loose collective of local players forming like the Voltron of traditional American music. The band features old-time music scene stalwarts such as Mike Finders, Bob Black, Dale Thomas, Aleta Murphy, Al Murphy, Joe Peterson, and whoever else happens to show up. It promises to be a can’t miss show that varies from week to week, with an atmosphere that can only come from seeing good friends playing music together. Music will be from 7-10 and this will be a non-smoking show. $5 cover, plus you can’t beat those $1.75 PBRs.
You can hear some songs, recorded live at the Mill in 2006, right here.
