It’s been a certifiably strange week: between the long President’s Day weekend nad the cancellations of school, it seems as if the weekend arrived before the last one even left. Which is cool. This mini-week saw some exciting announcements for the ‘08 Mission Creek Fest, and those of you who missed out on last night’s Songwriters In Residence night at the Mill (that’s just about all of you) missed out in a big way. You snooze, you lose, so they say. But don’t get caught snoozin’ this weekend. There’s a slew of good shows going on.
Thursday
Bare Bone Orquestra w/ 12 Canons, Quiet Bears, Tim Krien / 9pm - The Mill - $5
Thursday night at the Mill brings you a varied and excellent local smorgasbord of talent - from the gothic folk of the Bare Bone Orquestra to 12 Canons baroque spookiness, this is a can’t miss evening.
Friday
The Dirtbombs w/ Rusty Buckets, Mannix! / 9pm - The Picador - $8
Do your homework and then come out in force for the Dirtbombs Friday night taking the Picador by storm. Locals Rusty Buckets and Mannix promise to add to the cacophony.
Saturday
The Diplomats of Solid Sound w/ the Diplomettes / 9pm - The Yacht Club - $6
Need we say more? It’s the Diplomats, and even if you saw them a few weeks ago, there’s no reason to let that stop you tonight. Get yr dancing shoes on, but watch your step on that ice.
