To whoever said we didn’t have a little soul in us and didn’t know our folk roots, well, we now bite our thumbs at thee. We are happy to announce the latest and greatest additions to Mission Creek ‘08. Folk singer-songwriter, Pieta Brown, will make her first appearance at the festival (we’ve been waiting on this one for a minute.) If there’s one thing you need in folk-rock more than anything else, it’s a striking voice, and, damn, Ms. Brown’s got that category all sewn up. It’s nice, though, that she can also play guitar and craft the heck out of a great plains, whiskey-drenched melody.
Speaking of tremendous voices and ear-warming melodies, the Wandering Sons will also be joining us at this year’s fest. Led by crooner Cory Chisel, the Sons’ mix of R&B, soul, and rock n’ roll makes for a riveting show. These guys consistently burn it down when they take the stage. With their recently penned deal with RCA records and a major label debut that’s bound to turn heads later this year, we can assure you this will be your last chance to see Cory Chisel and his perpetually wandering band mates in such an intimate setting.
