Saturday night is your opportunity to get out and get DIY-as-fuck at a house party/art show/rock show/extravaganza. Home Cooked is an art show - no, a happening that is being put on by a group of motivated local artists looking to provide an alternative space for Iowa City’s underground art scene. This will be the second of such installments, hopefully occurring regularly. BYOB and get sophisticated with poetry readings and a slew of local artists spanning 2D, 3D, and video/intermedia works before you get rowdy with several bands performing short sets. As if that weren’t enough, it’s a perfect chance to get out of the same old bars, meet and converse with some new heads, and kick the stagnancy of winter in the butt.
The event starts at 6 with readings until 7, at which point music kicks off and will run through the rest of the evening, which concludes approximately at 11. Throughout the evening you’ll be able to check out local artwork in a unique space that straddles the fence between house party and gallery. Acts performing include Foul Tip, Datagun, Nimby, Family Van, and others. Come with your favorite non-bar sanctioned adult beverage.
