Just Announced: PS1 October shows with sBACH and Casiotone!

First, the straight dope:

Casiotone for the Painfully Alone with Gangi, Ill Ease, and Rainbow Arabia - Saturday, Oct 11th. $5

sBACH with more TBA - Monday, Oct. 13th. $5.

Roommate with The Judy Green and Ed Gray - Saturday, Oct. 25th. $5.

Now, the skinny:
Since Public Space ONE opened at the end of April, every month has been more successful than the last. Thanks to the work of nonprofit group The James Gang, the mission freak team, and all of you who are showing up night after night, word is starting to spread about IC’s newest venue (which, full disclosure, I’m currently doing the booking for). With our September calendar winding down, it looks like October is coming on strong. One of my favorite bands/dudes, Casiotone for the Painfully Alone, brings his melancholy electronica to an already loaded bill featuring Ill Ease, Gangi, and Rainbow Arabia. This show will certainly reach capacity.

sBACH is the new project from Spencer Heim, drummer behind Hella and Nintendo cover-band gurus The Advantage. Just google around if you haven’t already heard the near-deafening buzz surrounding this project.

Kent Lambert, aka Roommate, has released one of the year’s best records with We Were Enchanted, and comes through Iowa City with his friends The Judy Green and our friend Ed Gray for a night that will, in fact, feature an earnestly played keytar.

I just wanted to give everyone a head’s-up in a “mark your calendars” kind of way, but expect more details, profiles, and free mp3s from us in the near future about all of these bands. And, oh yeah, did I mention that hip-hop team MC/VL is playing with Baby Guts and Lipstick Homicide on Oct. 4th? Bookmark the myspace page to keep yourself current!
