Preview: These Arms Are Snakes

Awesome rock show alert: Wednesday night These Arms Are Snakes roll into town in support of their third album, Tail Swallower and Dove. The Seattle quartet released their new disc late last year via Suicide Squeeze after spending time on DC based Jade Tree for their first two releases. You can expect chunky riffs cutting through the space between prog and hardcore. Think Minus the Bear but more aggressive, or alternately, Blood Brothers but less aggressive. Depends on if your a half-full or half-empty kind of person, I guess. Either way, this show should be loud, grimy, and in your face.

There’s no local action on this show, but you get to take in some pretty sweet other acts for your $8 admission ticket. Darker My Love bring their LA space-rock to town along with All the Saints, on of the most recent (last?) signings of legendary indie label Touch & Go. Minneapolis rockers Private Dancer open things up. You might want your earplugs for this one. Get a listen to “Red Line Season” from Tail Swallower and Dove below.

Strange bit of trivia on Darker My Love: two of the members also play in never ending UK band the Fall. Odd yet true.
