Preview: HOTT
Iowa City is a tough musical terrain. With a good portion of the young talent in the city only trolling our bars and venues because they’re also students at the University of Iowa, it becomes difficult to forge an attachment when artists, members and even full bands graduate and move on to “greener” pastures. But some folks stick it out to the grizzly, balding, graying end of things. Example: HOTT. A couple of Iowa City’s original punk rockers (dudes were even a bit too punk for Gabe’s Oasis), have gotten permission from their old ladies to rock out once again. They’ve already rattled the foundation at Public Space ONE a couple times and they’ve nearly shaken the sign off the Mill twice, and they’re looking for more window-rattling decibels on Saturday as they barge back into Public Space ONE.
I was able to sit down with three of HOTT’s four members on Monday for my KRUI show Corn-Fed Music. We have that interview streaming below. (Must apologize but technical difficulties cut the stream of interview with Plane Crashes [sharing the bill with HOTT] short.)

On that very show we debuted a brand new recording from the group and we have permission to post it here. Enjoy “Read Your Mind” streaming or available for download below.
