Esme Patterson is a singer/songwriter and founding member of Denver’s indie folk band Paper Bird. Esme grew up near Boulder, Colorado, listening to old R&B records with her sister Genevieve. They soon came to discover folk and Americana music. In 2006 two sisters collaborated with another sibling duo, Mark and Sarah Anderson, forming Paper Bird. The group found much success in the independent albums released.
Esme occasionally performed solo, but it was not until 2012 that she has accumulated songs that were not a good fit for Paper Bird. With influence from artists such as Van Morrison and Feist, she began focusing on her first solo album, All Princes, I.
Her most recent album “Women to Women” released in 2013, focuses on responses from female characters in a broad range of well-known love songs.
She has performed as a backup singer for Tennis, performing on The David Letterman Show and Jay Leno. She’s also been known for collaborating with Shakey Graves and Nathaniel Radcliffe.
