Guitarist Glenn Jones uses fingerpicking techniques on both the banjo and the guitar to create lyrical, moving original compositions. Jones sets himself from other guitarists by his ability to tell a story through his music. In the ‘70s, Jones discovered and mastered American Primitive guitar—a genre of music started by John Fahey who used traditional, country blues fingerpicking on his avant-garde compositions. In 1989, Jones founded experimental rock group Cul de Sac. In the 2000s, Jones began focusing on solo projects, most recently being 2013’s My Garden State, his second album released with Chicago’s post-rock label Thrill Jockey.
