Preview: Mason Jennings

Isaac Brock may not make the most essential albums anymore, but presumably the man still has unquestionable taste. And so when he picked Minnesota songwriter Mason Jennings to be the first artist signed to his new Epic Records subsidiary Glacial Pace, we couldn’t help but take notice. Jennings spent many years touring and releasing records independently before the signing, and released his major label debut Boneclouds last year. Most recently, he contributed two tracks to the soundtrack from the new Bob Dylan biopic I’m Not There. Disc two sees his take on “The Times They Are A-Changin’,” while he covers “The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll” on the first. This Friday, you can catch up with the Modest Mouse-approved troubadour at the Englert. Show is at 8:00pm, tickets $20. For now, enjoy the track below and if you’re hungering for some more, you can hear tracks on his Myspace.
