Mission Creek Artist Installation, March 31 - April 5

After graduating from the UI with a BFA in graphic design, Candida Pagan traveled widely- adventuring here and there, always on the hunt for a new art or performance project. She has come to rest, as of late, in Iowa City and is currently an MFA Candidate at the UI Center for the book. She is the proprietor of Digraph Press, a limited edition fine press, and works with Special Collections materials in the University of Iowa Libraries’ Conservation Lab. Through drawing, letterpress, bookbinding, and paper-making, she creates research based works of art. The work shown over Mission Creek Week reflects recent work around cosmology and early astronomy.

An installation of sculptural paper vessels containing drawings and paintings based on early cosmological diagramming will be on display as well as the latest edition by Digraph Press. The Eccentricity is Zero is a series of broadsides made in collaboration with poet Lauren Haldeman-and Lauren will be reading from them as part of the Mission Boutique event on Saturday, April 4, at 2 pm.
