Preview: Solon Saturdays - Mission Creek at Redhead!

Last month, we presented the inaugural night of our monthly Redhead Series, which takes place at the Redhead Café in Solon. If you were there, you know that this is the place to be the first weekend of each month. We experienced a night of music celebrating local songcraft and one of our favorite local businesses. Irresistible food at a reasonable price, considering that it relies on local products for it’s varying menu. Not only were we treated to intimate performances by Matthew Wright, Caleb Engstrom, and Mission Freak’s own Andre Perry, but the Redhead also dropped a bomb on us; a bomb in the form of $1.50 Old Style cans. Damn! All for us, too. Will this trend continue? Musically, yes. On the menu (pun intended) for this month’s show is Iowa City folk icon Sam Knutson as well Judd Hoskins, who plays as Black Ambient Manifesto (Judd is also a member of Martyrs of Maudlin). It’s not a huge place, so carpool and show up early for dinner and visit with us. Entertainment is free, music starts between 9 and 10. Only a visit to Solon will tell whether or not the drink menu will include the fabled Old Styles…

Keep in mind that in April we will be taking a break from our monthly series in Solon due to the Mission Creek Festival in Iowa City! We’ll pick up again the first Saturday of May. See you this weekend!
